How will Detroit Lions use Sunday’s loss as fuel moving forward?

What did Campbell say about Monday’s matchup against the 5-1 Bucs, who have the best record in the NFC?

He has a ton of respect for Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield for the way he plays the game and his leadership style. Mayfield can push the ball down the field and make plays with his legs.

“I just think he’s playing at a high level,” Campbell said. “He’s a guy that gives them a chance anytime they’re in a game.”

Did any aspect of Sunday’s game or any individual performance stand out after watching the tape?

“DJ Reader played his tail off that whole game start to finish,” Campbell said. “I was really impressed.”

Players like Reader and rookie Tyleik Williams don’t rack up a lot of stats but they do the dirty work inside so other players can make plays. Reader has had a great start to his season.

Is Campbell happy with the carry distribution between Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery through six games?

Gibbs has 87 carries for 390 yards (4.5 average) with four touchdowns on the year. Montgomery has carried the ball 65 times for 334 yards (5.1) with four touchdowns.

Gibbs is getting more carries early on because he’s in the game during the two-minute offense and they’ve had a lot of those reps early in the year, per Campbell. He said he’d like to get Montgomery more carries moving forward and balance that load a little more evenly.
