Here’s everyone from ‘Blue Bloods’ who appears in premiere of spinoff ‘Boston Blue’

  • The premiere episode of Boston Blue kicked off the next chapter of the Blue Bloods saga on CBS.
  • Donnie Wahlberg reprises his character Danny Reagan on the crime show.
  • Three characters from Blue Bloods join Danny in the premiere episode of the spinoff.

CBS’ new crime series Boston Blue sees Donnie Wahlberg reprise his Blue Bloods character, Detective Danny Reagan, as he begins a new era of his career in Boston.

Although Wahlberg is the only primary cast member from Blue Bloods to carry over to Boston Blue, there are still a few familiar faces from Danny’s past who pop up in the spinoff’s premiere. Here’s everyone from Blue Bloods who appears in the premiere episode of Boston Blue.

Sean Reagan (Mika Amonsen)

The first character we meet in Boston Blue is Sean Reagan, the son of Wahlberg’s character who regularly appeared on Blue Bloods (primarily during family dinner scenes). However, Sean shouldn’t be immediately recognizable to viewers, as he’s now portrayed by a new actor, Mika Amonsen. Sean was previously played by Andrew Terraciano on Blue Bloods.

Sean is hanging out with his friend and Boston Police Department colleague Jonah Silver (Marcus Scribner) in the show’s opening scene. After the two buddies flirtily chat about Bruce Springsteen with a few women, Sean and Jonah run into a burning building to evaluate the damage and help residents who are trapped in the blaze.

After helping a few fire victims, a burst of flame slams Sean through a glass door, landing him in the hospital. He spends the remainder of the hour unconscious in a hospital bed, only waking in the final moment of the episode.

Danny receives a phone call informing him about Sean’s injury — and he gets the call while half-undressed in his bedroom with Maria Baez, his Blue Bloods partner. Baez and Danny kept their relationship strictly professional as NYPD partners — until the series finale, when Wahlberg’s character asked his colleague out for pizza.

Baez only appears in that one scene of the Boston Blue premiere, but the context of her brief cameo confirms that she and Danny followed through on that pizza date — and Danny’s first line of dialogue on the spinoff (“I thought we said when we stay at my place, we turn our ringers off”) suggests that the duo’s romantic relationship has a few strict parameters.

Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan)

The biggest Blue Bloods guest star in the Boston Blue premiere is Erin Reagan, Danny’s sister who works as an Assistant District Attorney in New York. Erin surprises Danny in Sean’s hospital room to offer emotional support as he investigates the fire that injured his son.

“Pretty sure I said nobody needed to come,” Danny says.

“Since when have I ever listened to you?” Erin shoots back.

After Danny explains the details of the case — and shares that he immediately trusts Lena Peters (Sonequa Martin-Green) — Erin tells him that she’ll remain “here until I know you’re okay.”

Erin later accompanies her brother to Lena’s family dinner, which is eerily reminiscent of the Reagan family meals back in New York. While Danny is in the bathroom, Lena asks his sister about how his past has impacted his detective work.

“I can tell that Danny plays things really close to the vest, but I gotta know — with Sean being hurt and the way he’s attacking this case, it’s like he has been through this before. Is there anything I need to know?” Lena asks.

“Well, this is Danny being Danny,” Erin responds. “He attacks every case like his whole family’s at stake. But you’re right, he’s lost more than most.”

After the dinner scene introduces most of Lena’s family and Danny helps solve the case, Erin also appears in the final scene of the episode, which takes place in Sean’s hospital room.

“You ready for Sunday dinner?” Erin asks.

“I’m guessing no pot roast,” Danny jokes.

“Roast beef sandwiches. Best I could do,” Erin says.

As the siblings say grace before eating, Sean awakens, and Erin calls for a doctor.

“I’m not going anywhere,” Danny tells his son.
