Helldivers 2 dev CEO really doesn’t agree with the community’s vote and teases going against democracy like “Mel Brooks in Spaceballs 2”

Arrowhead personnel regularly communicate with the fanbase on socials. Recently, the developer has admitted that sliders for an egregiously bad new weapon are “too much,” alluding to the likelihood of a buff, meanwhile, Arrowhead’s CEO has recently promised they “won’t rest” until the most exciting weapon to have leaked is in the game. The Helldivers 2 CEO has also stressed they really don’t agree with the community’s vote and has teased going against democracy.

Helldivers 2 CEO doesn’t agree with City of Remembrance vote

On the Helldivers Discord, HD2 players voted for what the City of Remembrance will be named. The votes finished on July 20th, and below were the options with the number of votes and ultimate winner:

• New Remembrance (6,654)
• Everlasting Memory (21,351)
• Peacebeacon’s Bloodlight (1,438)
• Winds of Changes of Tides of War (2,807)
• Gun (85,188 – Winner)

As you can see from the above votes, Gun won by an absolutely landslide. In wake of this, Arrowhead CEO, Shams Jorjani, doesn’t agree with the community.

In response to whether the City of Remembrance named Gun is real, Jorjani said, “I really don’t know where we are with that. I personally hope we go the managed democracy route and pick something else”. Jorjani added in another message, “But the people have spoken”.

Before voting finished and Gun was crowned the winner, Jorjani revealed he “Voted for Everlasting Memory”. With Gun running away as the clear choice, Jorjani said, “I really, really hope we do what Mel Brooks did in the Spaceballs 2 trailer, ‘we listened to the fans and instead we’re giving you this’. It’s MANAGED democracy folks. You don’t honestly think we’re putting you in charge, are you?”.

The Arrowhead CEO is most definitely joking about undermining the community’s vote, and it would be egregiously undemocratic, especially with how big of a landslide Gun won. Gun really isn’t the greatest name, but when the only decent competition is Everlasting Memory and New Remembrance, it’s no wonder Gun was the decisive winner.
