Zack Meisel of the Athletic is dropping hints that Chase DeLauter, wearing #34, might be added to the playoff roster. I don’t know what to make about that. I would be so excited if they called him up, which tempts me to believe it isn’t going to happen.

The Baseball Roundtable’s discussion of “What is Guardsball?” happens here. I enjoyed Grant Brisbee and Sam Miller’s determination that any baseball chaos that happens of any kind is #Guardsball. I used to play a game with a kids blow up ball that had Diego from Dora the Explorer on it. It was loosely based on baseball but we kept making up new rules as we played it in a tiny gym. Anytime something weird or funny happened, we’d all scream, “AND THAT’S DIEGO BALL!” I move we do the same when anything weird or funny happens at Guardians’ games.

Tommy and I hosted an episode of Disgusting Baseball previewing the wildcard series where we both somehow forgot that teams could take fewer than 13 pitches. Rocco Baldelli of the Twins fired, Bob Melvin of the Giants fired, Bruce Bochy of the Rangers let go(?). Guardians’ Bench coach Craig Albernaz is already being rumored in connection with the Giants’ job.
