GTA 6 launch slammed as millions of us unable to play on release

Patience is a virtue

GTA VI is finally set for a 26 May, 2026 release date — but launch day won’t be a celebration for everyone.

When Rockstar Games dropped the first trailer for GTA VI, what feels like a lifetime ago, fans were quick to point out that there was no mention of a PC release.

It was subsequently confirmed that the game will not be launching on PC alongside PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles. Something fans expected, given Rockstar’s track record, but is no less painful.

Given there are millions of gamers who primarily use PC, there’s a huge chunk that will either have to buy a console before next year, or simply wait it out for a currently unconfirmed period of time.

Fans are still pretty upset about this development, commenting on the “painful” wait, with some even vowing to pirate the game.

“The wait is gonna be painful,” writes one fan.”I almost bought a console just to play Red Dead Redemption 2 when it was released.”

Looking at previous Rockstar releases, PC gamers are realistically looking at a gap of at least one year before they can play GTA VI.

“Boycott Rockstar,” another fan suggests. “f*** their game. This ain’t 2015, it’s 2025. Why are we playing games without including PC?”

Another adds: “I ain’t buying a console for this game. I would rather watch my fave youtuber do a playthrough since it will be spoiled anyway because we aint gonna be able to hide from spoilers on social media.”

“Just because I spent a lot of money on a PC I have to have the story mode spoiled for me for a year,” another complains. “All over tiktok there are a bunch of console kids laughing at PC players about how we won’t get it right away.”

Clearly 26 May next year is going to be a rough day for PC gamers everywhere. I don’t see a boycott working, though.
