Golden Retriever Puppy’s Loyal Watch Over His Toys in the Washer Is Too Adorable

Although dogs have many wonderful traits, loyalty might be at the very top of the list. They’re always happy to be by our side, whether we’re laughing or needing comfort, and they somehow seem to know what we need before we do.

For this adorable Golden Retriever Puppy, that loyalty extends to his beloved toys. While most young dogs have short attention spans, this little guy stayed glued to the washer door, keeping watch through the wash cycle until it was time to be reunited with his favorites.

Watch this faithful friend in the video shared on August 19:

Lord Archibald (@archibald.the.lord) may only be a few months old, but he already understands the value of lasting friendships. His sweet face pressed against the washer door, staring in like those toys had been gone for a lifetime, was as adorably pitiful as it gets.

At one point, he even nibbled at the door, hoping to break them out early. And when the cycle finally ended? Archie wasted no time scooping up his treasures, as if making sure none were left behind.

This Golden is just filled with wonder and cuteness that only a puppy can deliver. Pet parents who watched completely understood.

One shared, “The only time my dog ever enters the laundry room is toy wash day.” Another added, “My Golden Retriever is exactly the same when we wash her teddies. They are her pride and joy.”

And @MarieAParis laughed, “Am I the only one who never has to wash toys? My Spaniel ruins them before they get a chance to get dirty.” It’s the same at my house.

Why Do Dogs Get Attached to Certain Toys?

According to experts at Woof, dogs often develop strong attachments to specific toys because they provide comfort, enrichment, and a sense of familiarity. Soft toys in particular can mimic the feeling of companionship and even trigger nurturing instincts, especially in breeds like Golden Retrievers, who are known for their caring, family-oriented nature.

Whether Archie lets his toys wash without needing to keep a close eye on them in the future, remains to be seen. But knowing the loyal heart of a Golden Retriever, it’s likely he’ll be watching laundry day for years to come.
