Ghost of Yotei Gets a Near Perfect Score in Japan’s Most Famous Gaming Magazine

Ghost of Yotei Famitsu Review Score

Famous Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has just dropped its latest issue — and it features a review for Ghost of Yotei.

The PS5 exclusive, which releases tomorrow at the time of writing, has been handed a near perfect score of 39/40.

For Famitsu, this is a rare occurrence; only 30 games — by our count — have ever been given a perfect 40/40. Meanwhile, a mere 55 games have reached the near perfect 39/40.

Its review system incorporates four separate scores from four different reviewers, each one out of 10. The scores are then added together — and so Yotei’s managed three 10/10s and one 9/10 to hit 39/40.

Interestingly, though, Ghost of Tsushima got a perfect Famitsu 40/40 back when it first launched on PS4 in 2020. It was only the third non-Japanese title to ever be awarded such a score.

Yotei hasn’t been able to outdo its predecessor, then, but Sucker Punch will still be over the moon with this result.

You may recall that Tsushima ended up being a huge hit with Japanese gamers — and review scores like this should help Yotei achieve a similar kind of success. Or at least, that’ll be what Sony’s hoping to see.

Do you think Ghost of Yotei will follow in Tsushima’s footsteps? Is it destined to be Sucker Punch’s second Japanese blockbuster? Try to be near perfect in the comments section below.
