No. 15 Tennessee is set to host No. 6 Georgia Saturday afternoon in a clash between two high-profile rivals with major implications for both the SEC and the national landscape. The Vols are 23-1 in their last 24 home games, but the one loss in that span came against Georgia in 2023. In fact, Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs remain an elusive white whale for Tennessee and coach Josh Heupel.
Heupel, who is 2-1 against top foes Alabama and Florida over the last three seasons, has yet to notch a win against Georgia. The Bulldogs are riding an eight-game winning streak to Knoxville, with all eight wins in that span coming by at least 14 points.
Though Georgia’s modern dominance gives it some momentum, this will be a big test for the Bulldogs and new starting quarterback Gunner Stockton, who has yet to log a true road start. He’ll get tested by a Tennessee defense that’s missing its top two cornerbacks — Rickey Gibson and Jermod McCoy — with two of its top rotational defensive linemen listed as questionable on the weekly injury report.
