Sophie Turner admitted that kissing her “Game of Thrones” co-star Kit Harington for the new gothic horror film, “The Dreadful,” was a “vile” experience.
During her Aug. 14 appearance on “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” Turner explained that she was producing and starring in “The Dreadful,” and that she recommended Harington to writer-director Natasha Kermani as the ideal male lead.
Turner and Harington portrayed siblings Sansa Stark and Jon Snow throughout all eight seasons of “Game of Thrones.” Although the fantasy series concluded in 2019 and they haven’t played brother and sister since, Turner explained that their sibling-like bond has endured.
“So, I sent the script to Kit, and he kind of sent me a message back going like, ‘Yeah, I’d love to, but this is going to be really fucking weird, Soph,’” Turner said on the late-night show. “And I was like, ‘What is he talking about?’ Then I was reading [the script] and it’s like, ‘Kiss, kiss, sex, kiss, sex…’ And then I’m like, ‘Oh, shoot, that’s my brother.’”
Despite the initial awkwardness, Turner said she and Harington agreed “The Dreadful” script was so good, they “kind of had to do it.”
She continued, “We put it out of our minds, and then we get on set and it’s the first kissing scene, and we are both retching. Like, really, it is vile. It was the worst.”
Set in the 15th century, “The Dreadful” follows Anne (Turner) and her mother-in-law Morwen, who live on the outskirts of society. When a man from their past returns, he triggers a chain of events that upends Anne’s life. The film also stars Marcia Gay Harden, Laurence O’Fuarain and Jonathan Howard. A release date has yet to be announced.
