After years of watching and helping her mother, sisters and sisters-in-law welcome and care for their babies it’s finally Jana Duggar‘s turn to have her own little one!
The former Counting On star announced on Monday that she is pregnant with her first child. The announcement comes just days after Jana and her husband Stephen Wissmann celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary.
Jana revealed her big news on Instagram.
“We are so excited, January 2026 is going to come with a little bundle of joy joining our family!” she wrote in the caption of several photos of her and Stephen cradling her baby bump. “We’re counting down the days and eagerly looking forward to this thrilling new chapter in our lives!”
“Excited to share God is sending us a new little bundle of joy in January 2026!” Stephen wrote on Instagram Stories.
As 19 Kids & Counting know, Jana was responsible for much of the care of many of her 18 siblings and continued to help her siblings as they began to have their own children. Jana, however, remained single as she watched her younger brothers and sisters get married (most in their late teens or earlier twenties).
Last year, however, Jana married Stephen and moved to his home state of Nebraska. Since then, she and Stephen have been documenting their first year of marriage on social media.
On almost all of her social media posts since her wedding, 35-year-old Jana has been peppered with questions as to when she and Stephen planned to start a family.
In April, Jana responded to one such inquiry, writing, “We would love to have children of our own and are praying that God sends us some soon!”
Jana and Stephen received plenty of well wishes from their many, many siblings. (Stephen comes from a family of 13 children, one of whom–Hannah— is married to Jana’s brother Jeremiah Duggar.)
“So excited for y’all,” wrote Jill Duggar Dillard.
“Can’t wait to meet this baby,” commented Jessa Duggar Seewald (who recently gave birth to her sixth child).
Currently, Jana is the only one in the Duggar family who is pregnant (that the public knows of). Her and Stephen’s baby will be the 40th grandchild for her parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar.
Jana has not yet revealed if she is expecting a boy or a girl.
