The internal specifications surrounding the foldable iPhone share some polarity. On one hand, Apple’s most cutting-edge smartphone will be loaded with top-end hardware, but the company is also reported to make compromises elsewhere, such as the device supposedly lacking Face ID due to design complexities. The Cupertino firm could make trade-offs in other areas, such as camera configuration, with analysts sharing the preliminary specifications of the foldable iPhone and highlighting some impressive aspects of the flagship.

With the launch of the foldable iPhone happening in the second half of 2026, Apple has plenty of time to decide the specifications. However, over the course of this week, we have learned that OLED orders will be fulfilled by Samsung, with the manufacturer slated to supply crease-free panels. Additionally, preliminary specifications by UBS analysts that were shared by the tipster @Jukanlosreve on X mention that the foldable iPhone will be kitted with Apple’s newest and most advanced A-series SoC, the A20 Pro, which is said to be fabricated on TSMC’s 2nm process.
Apple has previously been reported to adopt TSMC’s WMCM (Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module) packaging for the A20 and A20 Pro, with both chipsets able to accommodate multiple dies, such as the CPU, GPU, memory, and other parts, at a wafer level, before being sliced into individual chips. This technology will enable these SoCs to have a smaller die, while also being more power-efficient. Other specifications include Apple’s in-house C2 5G modem, which is reported to be in development since February of this year and could provide mmWave support, a feature that was sorely missing from the iPhone 16e’s C1.
Storage variants of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB have been mentioned, and based on this information, Apple will keep the foldable iPhone’s RAM count limited to 12GB. Just yesterday, we learned that the device’s Bill of Materials will be around $759, with the retail price expected to be in the $2,000-$2,400 range. This figure is equivalent to a top-end MacBook Pro configuration, and for the MSRP that Apple might charge its customers, it should feature 16GB of RAM at the bare minimum. Coming to the cameras, the foldable iPhone will miss out on a telephoto sensor, instead shipping with just a wide-angle and an ultrawide-angle shooter with a maximum resolution of 48MP.
The thickness measurement for when the device is folded is between 9-9.5mm, and the unfolded dimensions are 4.5-4.8mm. As for the display, the cover screen is reported to measure 5.5 inches, while the inner panel could be 7.8 inches when measured diagonally.
