Five former Dallas Cowboys players, including linebacker Lee Roy Jordan and two others with Dallas-area high school ties, were among 52 players nominated by the Seniors Screening Committee for election into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the seniors category, it was announced Thursday.
Cornerback Everson Walls (Richardson Berkner) led the NFL in interceptions three times, finishing his career with 57 picks, four Pro Bowls and one All-Pro team selection.
Harvey Martin (South Oak Cliff) was named to the 1970s All-Decade team as a defensive lineman. He shared the Super Bowl XII MVP award with Randy White and was named to four Pro Bowls and one All-Pro team.
Quarterback Don Meredith and defensive tackle Ed “Too Tall” Jones are also on the list.

Meredith, a three-time Pro Bowler who played collegiately at SMU, went 47-32-4 in his career with two losses for the right to reach the Super Bowl, which included the famed 1967 Ice Bowl defeat to Green Bay.
Jones, the first player drafted No. 1 overall in the NFL from a HBCU, was named to three Pro Bowls and one All-Pro team. Jones went to Tennessee State.
Jordan, who passed away on Aug. 30, was a five-time Pro Bowler who played 14 seasons.

The Seniors Blue Ribbon Committee will cut the list of 52 to 25, then to nine, over the next several weeks. The nine semifinalists will then be cut to three finalists for consideration for election into the Class of 2026.
To be considered from the seniors category, players must have appeared in a game no more recently than the 2000 season.
