It is a truth universally acknowledged that any new Jane Austen adaptation is guaranteed to get our attention.
We finally have our first glimpse of Netflix’s new adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved 1813 novel Pride and Prejudice, which is currently in production in the UK. The photo shows the full lineup of the cast of Bennet sisters and Mrs Bennet.
Olivia Colman is playing the matriarch of the Bennet clan, Mrs Bennet. “You have no compassion for my poor nerves!”
So, who’s playing the Bennet sisterhood? Emma Corrin (Nosferatu, The Crown) stars as Lizzy Bennet, Freya Mavor (Industry) takes the role of Jane Bennet, Rhea Norwood (Heartstopper, Cabaret) will play Lydia Bennet, and Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery will make their screen debuts as Mary and Kitty Bennet.
Rufus Sewell (The Diplomat) will play the patriarch of the Bennet family, Mr Bennet. Jamie Demetriou (Stath Lets Flats, Barbie) will be “the dreaded cousin,” the insufferable Mr Collins. Then there’s the matter of our esteemed patroness Lady Catherine de Bourg, who’ll be played by Fiona Shaw.
