Joe Milton is happy to compare his time in New England to his current situation with the Cowboys.
The Patriots are not coming off well in that comparison, as Milton told reporters Dak Prescott has helped him in a way that his teammates in New England did not.
“Dak is a great leader,” Milton told reporters. “All respect to him. He literally goes out of his way to help me, no matter if the coach is talking in the meeting, he literally goes out of his way to help. I’ve been in another building. I know how that goes. It’s just very different over here.”
Milton was with the Patriots for just one year as the third-stringer behind fellow rookie Drake Maye and Jacoby Brissett.
He played the final game of the season and impressed with 241 passing yards, a touchdown and a rushing touchdown in a win over the Bills that cost New England the No. 1 pick.
The Patriots then traded Milton as part of a late-round pick swap in April after having signed Josh Dobbs in free agency.
Milton was asked this week whether he wanted a fresh start.
“Definitely, I preferred it,” Milton said. “That was something me and my team put together. They were able to get it done, I really didn’t have to do much or say much. So just shout out to my agent, that’s pretty much it.”
It’s not the first time Milton has thrown shade at New England.
In May, he called Dallas’ offense “more fast and more explosive” while comparing the two, and has said more than once that Brian Schottenheimer’s offense is easier to learn.
Milton and Will Grier are competing to back up Prescott, but Milton is currently getting second-team reps for the Cowboys.
