Everything You Need to Know to Vote on Election Day, Tuesday, Sept. 9

 

Voters in Virginia’s 11th Congressional District will choose a new U.S. Representative on Tuesday, Sept. 9. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. If you’re in line by 7 p.m., you will be able to vote.

Same-Day Registration

You may register and vote at your polling place on Election Day. Same-day registrants will cast a provisional ballot.

Bring a valid photo ID if you have one. If not, you may complete an ID Confirmation Statement and still cast a regular ballot.

Examples of accepted IDs:

  • Virginia driver’s license (expired is accepted)
  • U.S. passport
  • Utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or government document showing your name and address

 

Returning Your Mail Ballot

Ballots may be returned:

  • At any polling place within CD-11 on Sept. 9 (6 a.m.–7 p.m.)
  • In the 24/7 drop box at the Fairfax County Government Center until 7 p.m.

If mailed, ballots must be postmarked by Sept. 9 and received by noon on Friday, Sept. 12.

Accessibility

Curbside voting is available for voters 65+ or with a disability. All polling places have accessible ballot marking devices and materials in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Korean.
