Eufy has just upgraded its security device lineup to include two new home security cameras, both powered by artificial intelligence (AI). The new EufyCam E40 and SoloCam E42 are joining the Eufy Security catalog to expand its local storage solutions.
MaxColor Vision in 2K resolution
With Eufy’s new MaxColor Vision, the EufyCam E40 features AI-powered color night vision that enhances video captured in ultra-low-light conditions at 2K resolution. I’ve used the EufyCam S1 Pro, which debuted the MaxColor Vision capability, and the way the camera delivers full-color video in pitch-dark conditions is very impressive.

Eufy Security
The enhanced color night vision provides better clarity, especially to ensure accuracy in human detection, so there are fewer false alarms. The EufyCam E40 is compatible with the HomeBase S380 and the older HomeBase 2 for local storage, letting you bypass monthly cloud storage fees.
Eufy says the E40 is the first battery-powered security camera with dual USB-C ports. These ports let you add a LongRange Module and a solar panel simultaneously. The module supports high-speed video transmission across longer distances, like 500-1,000 meters, making it a good option for large properties.
Though it’s a battery-powered indoor and outdoor camera, the EufyCam E40 has a 0.75W solar panel along the top. When placed in direct sunlight, the solar panel provides the E40 with nearly year-round power, so you don’t have to plug it in to recharge it.

The SoloCam E42 features 4K resolution, a built-in spotlight, and pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) capabilities to cover 360 degrees horizontally. It comes with a removable solar panel for continuous power, but it’s separate from the camera, so you can place the camera where you need coverage and the solar panel facing the sun.
Availability
The EufyCam E40 camera is now available in a two-camera bundle with the HomeBase 2 for $280 and with the HomeBase S380 for $380. You can also add a separate Eufy solar panel for extra energy capture.
This SoloCam E42 will be available on Aug. 5 in a two-camera bundle with a HomeBase S380 for $399. It features high-visibility red and blue strobe lights and a 105 dB siren to deter intruders.
