Stephen A. Smith took to social media shortly after No. 8 Alabama defeated No. 14 Missouri 27-24 on Saturday.
“Gotta give credit where it’s due with Kalen DeBoer and Alabama football,” the “First Take” host posted on X. “Georgia last week, now a win at Missouri, going for a fourth and 8, winning in the trenches, running the ball vs top run def. Now, THAT’s ALABAMA football. Thank you!!!”
For the record, Alabama defeated Vanderbilt last week and Georgia the week before.
But to his point, as Cole Cubelic pointed out on X, Alabama is the fifth team in SEC history to defeat three ranked conference opponents in a three-week span with no open date.
Ty Simpson threw for 200 yards and three touchdowns, including the clincher on fourth down to Daniel Hill with 3:16 to go, and eighth-ranked Alabama held off No. 14 Missouri to give the Crimson Tide their fifth consecutive win.
Jam Miller added 85 yards rushing before leaving with an injury in the fourth quarter, and Kevin Riley and Isaiah Horton also had TD catches for Alabama (5-1, 3-0 SEC), which has won seven straight over Missouri dating to Sept. 8, 1975.
The loss ended the Tigers’ 15-game home winning streak, the second-longest nationally.
