ESPN’s reaction to WWE Wrestlepalooza 2025 has now been revealed, with the network’s official website now handing out a grade to the show.
Marking WWE’s debut on ESPN’s new direct-to-consumer streaming app, Wrestlepalooza featured a card filled with marquee matches such as Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena, Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre and the in-ring return of AJ Lee after 10 years away.
However, while the show promised a lot, the reception to it has been somewhat mixed from fans online, a sentiment echoed by ESPN themselves in their own grading of the show.
ESPN combat sports writer Andreas Hale penned the following assessment for WrestlePalooza on ESPN’s official website, referring to the show as “average” aside from the “excellent” Women’s World Championship match between IYO SKY and Stephanie Vaquer:
“The excellent Vaquer vs. Sky match saved this show from being truly average. It was a phenomenal display inside the squared circle.
“Everything else was either underwhelming (the short Rhodes-McIntyre match) or a setup for a future match (Lesnar dominating Cena).
For a card that promised to have epic moments, it fell a little short of expectations.”
Hale gave the show a C grade overall, with Lesnar vs. Cena earning a the lowest individual match grade of a C-, while Vaquer vs. SKY received the highest grade with a B+.
