Priscilla Presley kept her post-divorce relationship with Robert Kardashian under wraps from Elvis Presley for fear of how he would react.
In her new memoir, “Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis,” she recalls a time when she was in bed with Kardashian, while he was sleeping, and took a call at 2 a.m. from the King of Rock ‘n Roll.
“(Elvis would) have gone ballistic, maybe literally, if he’d known Robert was in my bedroom,” she shared in an excerpt from her book obtained by PageSix. “Elvis always carried a loaded gun, sometimes more than one.”
Priscilla claims she put the phone receiver between herself and Robert, allowing him to listen to her private conversations with her ex-husband. Robert allegedly told his friends Elvis did not want Priscilla dating because “they had [daughter] Lisa Marie, and Elvis was very involved in that.”
Priscilla, 80, started dating Kardashian in 1975, two years after finalizing her 1973 divorce from Elvis. Before meeting the lawyer, she also had a relationship with karate instructor Mike Stone. Kardashian went on to marry Kris Jenner in 1978 and welcomed 4 kids before ending their marriage in 1991.
“Robert was a sweet man, and I liked him,” Priscilla wrote. She added that “his demanding job” as a high-profile attorney “had him working long hours,” which made it difficult to maintain a serious relationship. Kardashian died of cancer in 2003 at age 59.
Elvis died in 1977, aged 42, while Lisa Marie passed away from cardiac arrest in January 2023 at the age of 54. In her tell-all book, Priscilla reveals she remained close to Robert and his daughter, Kim Kardashian, until his death.
“Robert and I had one last conversation before he died. He was the kindest of men, and I remember him with great affection,” she shared.
Her memoir “Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis,” with never-before-heard stories, is set to release on September 23.
