In death, Charlie Kirk helped reunite the world’s richest man and the world’s most powerful man, according to a right-wing influencer.
Benny Johnson, who guest hosted Kirk’s show on Monday, said Musk accepted Trump’s invitation to sit with him for Sunday’s memorial to Kirk, who was shot and killed Sept. 10 while speaking to students at Utah Valley University.
Johnson recalled Musk embracing Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, after the event while with a small group of people, and issuing a dire warning.
“He hugs Erika Kirk, he looks to all of us and he goes, ‘if we don’t hang together we will surely hang separately, so let us unite. I was proud to sit with my president tonight,’” Musk said, according to Johnson.
Musk, who played a role in the Trump administration with the Department of Government Efficiency, which aimed to cut waste and fraud from the budget, had a falling out with the president over Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill.”
Amid the feud, Musk dialed back his tweeting of political issues on his social media platform, X.
Johnson noted that Charlie Kirk prayed for a reconciliation between the two men.
“Charlie said in this chair, right here, he hoped it happened,” Johnson said, gesturing to a chair in the studio. “Charlie said, ‘I pray, I pray that Elon Musk and Donald Trump reconcile.’ And they did so at Charlie’s funeral in Charlie’s memory.”
“Not only was the size and scope of this, and the peacefulness of it, a profound eulogy for Charlie and his memory,” Johnson said, “but the cornerstone of it all — to unite the world’s most powerful, richest, private civilian with the world’s most powerful, public figure — Donald Trump.”
Johnson called the reunion “a profound and beautiful example of what Charlie constantly was doing for our movement, and he fused together the greatest schism that we’ve seen in the nascent Trump administration.”
“He just fixed Trump and Elon together. We saw it live. And it’s like the power of Charlie crying out after death … still the power of Charlie to bring together these tectonic forces that should not reconcile. These are two stubborn men. These are two men that don’t need each other, honestly,” he said.
