The Eagles acquired Jaguars running back Tank Bigsby, who rushed for nearly 800 yards with seven touchdowns last year.
The news was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Eagles shipped 5th- and 6th-round selections in the 2026 draft to the Jaguars for Bigsby, a 3rd-round pick out of Auburn in 2023.
It’s the sixth trade Howie Roseman has made since the start of training camp six weeks ago.
The move could be related to an injury suffered by 2nd-year running back Will Shipley, who left the Eagles’ opener vs. the Cowboys with an injury. Shipley had 26 rushing yards on three carries before leaving the game. No word from the Eagles on the severity of his injury.
In addition to Saquon Barkley and Shipley, the only other back on the 53-man roster before this acquisition was veteran A.J. Dillon. He had three carries for 10 yards Thursday night in his first game since 2023. Another back, 2nd-year pro Audric Estime, a one-time Broncos 5th-round pick, is on the practice squad.
This is the second trade Howie Roseman has made with the Jaguars in the past two weeks. The Eagles late last month traded a 7th-round pick in next year’s draft for backup offensive lineman Fred Johnson.
Bigsby , who just turned 24 last week, played sparingly as a rookie under Doug Pederson with the Jaguars, rushing 50 times for a 2.6 average and two TDs. But he had a solid season last year, leading the Jaguars with 766 yards and averaging 4.6 yards per carry, 13th-highest among 32 backs who had at least 150 carries.
The only other backs in Jaguars history to average at least 4.5 yards per carry with seven TDs in a season are Maurice Jones-Drew, Fred Taylor and James Robinson.
In the Jags’ opener against the Panthers Sunday Bigsby ran five times for 12 yards.
Bigsby is playing on the third year of his rookie contract, worth $1.190 million this year and $1.435 million next year.
Bigsby, whose real first name is Cartavious, is not a receiving back. He has only eight career catches for 60 yards and one TD in 34 career games. He’s one of only seven players in NFL history with at least 200 carries and fewer than 10 receptions and the only one who’s played in the last 25 years.
Roseman has made six trades since the start of training camp, acquiring cornerback Jakorian Bennett from the Raiders for defensive tackle Thomas Booker, receiver John Metchie and a 6th-round pick from the Texans for tight end Harrison Bryant and a 5th-round pick, quarterback Sam Howell from the Vikings for a 5th-round pick in 2026 and a 7th-round pick in 2027, Johnson from the Jaguars and a 6th-round pick in 2027 for offensive lineman Darian Kinard.
The Eagles still have 10 draft picks in the 2026 draft, including projected comp picks: Their own picks in the first and second round, three picks in the third round, two picks in the fourth round, two picks in the fifth round and one in the sixth round.
