The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced two roster moves ahead of their third and final preseason game against the New York Jets.
Let’s sort through this news on a player-by-player basis.
Wilson reportedly suffered knee and ankle injuries that will require season-ending surgery. Pretty unfortunate development for the second-year wide receiver who turned things around after a rough start to training camp. Wilson figured to have a role as a “dirty work” player who primarily contributed as a blocker and special teams guy. The 6’6” pass-catcher might’ve been in line to see some occasional targets, especially in the red zone where his size is most valuable.
Instead, Wilson is now ineligible to play in 2025. The Eagles will hope that he fully recovers well in advance of him competing for a roster spot ahead of the 2026 NFL season.
Robinson, 25, played college football at Kansas State from 2020-2025 before signing with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted rookie running back. Robinson was waived right before training camp started. He then signed with the New England Patriots in August, where he lasted for a couple weeks before getting cut again.
In all likelihood, the Eagles are signing Robinson to help fill snaps in tonight’s preseason finale against the New York Jets. Not a very glamorous role but it’s a chance for him to get his name out there and try to add some good film to his resume.
