Country singer Drake White and his wife, Alex, have announced the death of their newborn daughter in a joint post shared Sept. 7 on their respective Instagram pages.
The couple revealed Della Elizabeth White was born at 29 weeks and died 20 minutes after her birth.
“On Sunday, August 31st our precious daughter, Della Elizabeth White, went peacefully to be with Jesus,” the post began.
“We are so thankful for the holy moments God gave us with her. The Lord has been so near and close to us during this difficult time. He has held us up and sustained us through it all. We are heartbroken and soul tired, but we know we will get through this difficult time with the strength, peace, and joy that only our Heavenly Father can provide. May Della be held in the arms of Jesus until we see her again someday.”
The post also featured a pair of Bible verses.
“‘The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.’ -Psalm 34:18,” the couple wrote.
“‘I am dying from my grief; my years are shortened by sadness,’” the post continued. “‘Misery has drained my strength; I am wasting away from within. But I am trusting you, O Lord, saying, “You are my God!” My future is in your hands.’ – Psalm 31:10, 14-15.”
The post also said Della weighed 3 pounds, 3 1/2 ounces when she was born Aug. 31 at 8:52 a.m. before dying at 9:12 a.m.
The country music community sent condolences.

“I am so sorry. I love you and I’m praying for you all. No one should ever go through this kind of pain. I know your sweet girl will always be in your heart and watching over you,” Jessie James Decker wrote in the comments.
“My hearts aches for you. Sending so much love and prayer your way,” Lauren Alaina wrote.
“Love you buddy,” commented Chase Rice.
“I am so so very incredibly sorry to hear this,” Terri Clark wrote. “Heartbroken for you both. Sending you both love. No one should ever have to go through the loss of a child.”
Drake and Alex White are parents to a son, William, 2. In May, they confirmed they were expecting their second child.
“We were able to conceive through IVF and had our frozen embryo transfer in March,” Alex White told People. “We found out we were pregnant 10 days later and are due in November.”
Prior to William’s birth in 2023, Drake White reflected on the long road he and his wife took to get to that point.
“We’ve been through so much, from my having a stroke on stage to Alex being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and having an autoimmune disorder,” he told People. “And then this was just something else that tested our faith and tested our strength.”
“For six years, we have prayed for a baby and to know that God has heard our prayers is honestly overwhelming,” Alex White said.
