A “Downton Abbey” primetime special is set to air on NBC to celebrate the third and final film in the “Downton” franchise before its theatrical release.
Variety has learned exclusively that NBC will air “Downton Abbey Celebrates The Grand Finale” on Sept. 10 at 9 p.m. ET/PT and streaming the next day on Peacock. The one-hour special will feature conversations with the cast of the film as they reunite in London at the Savoy Hotel to share memories and never-before-heard stories from their time with the show and the films.
Those set to appear on the special are: Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Raquel Cassidy, Michelle Dockery, Kevin Doyle, Michael Fox, Joanne Froggatt, Paul Giamatti, Harry Hadden-Paton, Allen Leech, Phyllis Logan, Elizabeth McGovern, Sophie McShera, Lesley Nicol and Penelope Wilton as well as production designer Donal Woods, costume designer Anna Mary Scott Robbins, and composer John Lunn.

In addition, the special will also feature a world exclusive sneak preview scene from “Downtown Abbey: The Grand Finale,” which is due to hit theaters on Sept. 12. Beginning Sept. 1, audiences can also catch up on all six seasons of “Downton Abbey” as well as the first two films on Peacock.
NBC’s “Downton Abbey Celebrates The Grand Finale” is produced by UTAS UK Productions. “Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale” is a Carnival Films production, with Focus Features and Universal Pictures International distributing. Carnival Films is part of Universal International Studios.
This marks the latest primetime special at NBC in support of a Universal film. The broadcaster is also airing a live “Wicked” special in November ahead of the release of “Wicked: For Good” that will feature performances by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.
