This week, Gearbox rolled out a mid-sized Borderlands 4 patch that has a number of buffs to what it deems underperforming gear. But they also promised that the big, buffing and nerfing mega-patch would be the following week with a warning that broken builds were finally about to be targeted after a couple weeks of moderate weapon and character buffs.
Here’s what happened this week in terms of the guns that are getting boosts:
- Ruby’s Grasp Pistol (Reloading the gun fires 4 homing copies) – Damage increased 50%, fire rate increased 25%
- Bully Pistol (When gun shields are activated, launches an attack drone every 14 seconds) – Drone damage increased 50%, base damage increased 50%
- Rangefinder Pistol (Shoots in a looping pattern of firing 3 bullets, then 2 bullets, then 1 bullet) – Base damage increased 30%
- Queen’s Rest Pistol (Fires high speed rounds and damaging enemies has a 30% chance to spawn a homing stick projectile) – Spawn chance increased to 50%, fire rate increased 50%
- Seventh Sense Pistol (Hitting enemies spawn orbs that float upward and home in on targets on reload) – Orb damage increased 250%
- Hellwaker Shotgun (Projectiles are fired in a pentagram pattern) – Base damage increased 30%
- Convergence Shotgun (On hit, spawn converging projectiles on enemy) – Base damage increased by 25%
So, that’s a bunch of pistols and two shotguns. Hellwalker already had its damage changed to fire to please fans and align with past gamers, and now it got a needed damage buff on top of that. As for the pistols, some were underperforming, some already seemed very strong like Seventh Sense which just got a massive buff, and seems worth seeking out now.
There are a few additional changes that are kind of bug fixes, but they should help various builds:
- Legendary Tediore Shotgun Anarchy was adjusted to properly award Stacks of Mutualism when auto-reloading or killing enemies
- All Pets from all classes (such as Trouble, Specters, Reapers, and Forgeweapons) now properly gain Critical Hit Chance from Passives and Gear
- Adjustment made to Vex the Siren’s Bleed to count as Status Effect Damage
As for what to expect next week?
- Weapon and gear buffs
- Character buffs (hopefully a bunch of Amon ones)
- Quality of Life changes/fixes (trash bug fix, resetting list sort fix, dear god)
- “Unintended interactions” nerf likely targeting crit knife and groundbreaker, among others
I’m still playing, now leveling Amon to max after already doing so with Rafa and Vex. Hopefully, this patch will make that a lot more fun.
