Donald Trump was stymied in his attempts at a Challengers summer. Once again, the president was booed in public. At the U.S. Open men’s final Sunday, boos and jeers met Trump when he was put on the jumbotron. And, according to Variety, some clapping. ESPN broadcast the boos on ABC, despite a request from the United States Tennis Association to censor “disruptions or reactions” to Trump. The Home Alone 2 actor was at the U.S. Open as a guest of Rolex.
The men’s final was between Italy’s Jannik Sinner and Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz. It started late due to traffic and additional security measures for Trump. Which could explain some of the booing. The last time Trump attended the U.S. Open was in 2015, when he was merely a former reality host/presidential hopeful. He was booed then too.
