An instant coffee sold at Dollar General stores nationwide is being recalled due to possible glass contamination.
In an announcement from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Dollar General is voluntarily recalling three lots of its eight-ounce Clover Valley Instant Coffee.
The coffee in question was was sold in stores between Jul. 9 and Jul. 21, and distributed to the following 48 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin, West Virginia and Wyoming.
The affected product will have the UPC number 876941004069 and the lot numbers L-5163, L-5164, and L-5165. The best-by dates for these products range will range from Dec. 13, 2026, to Dec. 14, 2026.
The recall was initiated earlier this week after a customer alerted employees about the issue. Currently, no illnesses or injuries have been reported. However, the FDA warns that ingesting glass fragments can lead to serious injuries that “include damage to teeth, laceration of the mouth and throat, or perforation of the intestine.”
Customers who purchased an affected container of Clover Valley Instant Coffee are asked to discard it and contact Dollar General for a full refund. They can reach the company via email at customercare@dollargeneral.com or by phone at 1-888-309-9030, available from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. CST, seven days a week.
Dollar General is actively investigating the source of the glass contamination and apologizes for any inconvenience this product issue may have caused.
