Dog the Bounty Hunter’s 13-year-old grandson shot dead in family tragedy

A reality TV star’s grandson is dead in a family tragedy.

TMZ reports Gregory Zacca allegedly shot and killed his 13-year-old son, Anthony, at their apartment in Naples, Florida, on Saturday. Zacca is the son of Dog the Bounty Hunter’s wife, Francine Frane; Anthony is Dog’s step-grandson.

“We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible, tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony,” Francine and Duane “Dog” Chapman said in a joint statement.

Additional details, including how the shooting occurred, have not been released. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office told the Naples Daily News that they are investigating what has been described as an “isolated incident.”

No arrests have been made.

According to the New York Post, Zecca has been a member of Chapman’s bounty hunting team and a longtime gun enthusiast. In 2021, he shared photos on Instagram showing him visiting a gun shop with his son Anthony.

Chapman, 72, married Zecca’s mother in 2021 after their former partners died. Chapman, who has 13 children with six different women, was previously married to Beth Chapman for 13 years until her death from throat cancer in 2019.

“We understood the pain that the other one was feeling and [in] those tough days and moments, we helped each other stand up. We could cry with each other and talk about what we were feeling,” Frane told Entertainment Tonight in 2020.

“We were able to walk alongside each other through the pain and heartbreak and it brought us together in this amazing way.”

Chapman is a bounty hunter and former bail bondsman known for appearing on reality television series like “Dog the Bounty Hunter,” “Dog and Beth: On the Hunt,” “Dog’s Most Wanted” and “Dog Unleashed.” He has also been involved in a number of high profile cases, including an Upstate New York prison escape in 2015 and the search for Brian Laundrie following the killing of Gabby Petito in 2021.
