MediaTek has less than three weeks before it officially unveils its flagship smartphone chipset, the Dimensity 9500, and as you can imagine, there will be an influx of data prattling about the SoC’s specifications before the official unveiling. From the information that we have got a hold of so far, thanks to a notable tipster, the Dimensity 9500 will be an entire league above the Dimensity 9400 and Dimensity 9400+ because MediaTek is reported to bring a host of improvements to the upcoming silicon. A bump in the L3 cache should enable better performance from the Dimensity 9500, plus clock speed and NPU improvements highlighted in the newest rumor
For months now, we have known that the Dimensity 9500 will share a ‘1 + 3 + 4’ CPU cluster like its direct predecessors. However, Weibo’s Digital Chat Station has commented that we should witness an improvement in the clock speeds, with the chipset’s Travis performance core running at 4.21GHz, three Alto cores functioning at 3.50GHz, and lastly, we have four Gelas low-power cores operating at 2.70GHz. As for the GPU, the Dimensity 9500 features the ARM Mali-G1 Ultra graphics processor with 12 cores and runs at a 1.00GHz clock speed.
The rumor claims that the GPU sports a new microarchitecture that will result in improved ray tracing performance and reduced power consumption. MediaTek is also said to increase the L3 cache on the Dimensity 9500 to 16MB, up from 12MB on the Dimensity 9400 and Dimensity 9400+, along with 10MB of SLC cache, which has remained unchanged from the previous launches. For the first time, the flagship SoC will have support for ARM’s Scalable Matrix Extension, which helps to tackle the more complex workloads more efficiently, resulting in better single-core and multi-core performance.
The new NPU 9.0 is expected to deliver 100TOPS, with the Dimensity 9500 supporting 4-channel LPDDR5X RAM with a bandwidth of 10,667MHz and 4-lane UFS 4.1 storage. These specifications are above and beyond what MediaTek planned for the Dimensity 9400 and Dimensity 9400+, with the tipster previously stating that the chipset obtained a score of 4 million in AnTuTu, matching the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5’s scores.
