Dimemsity 9500 Launch Date Has Been Revealed In The Latest Rumor, With MediaTek Seemingly Announcing Its Flagship Chipset Before Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2’s Official Announcement Kicks Off

In September, MediaTek and Qualcomm will unveil their flagship chipsets, which will be found in a variety of Android-powered smartphones next year. However, thanks to an early announcement, only one company will have the upper hand in getting the most eyeballs on its product. According to the latest tipster’s claim, the Dimensity 9500 will have an edge over the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, as it is rumored to be announced just 24 hours before its closest rival.

A new rumor claims that the Dimensity 9500 will be announced on September 22

Qualcomm has already announced that its Snapdragon Summit will be held from September 23 onward. Just today, we got our first look at the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2’s single-core and multi-core scores when the SoC was tested inside the Galaxy S26 Edge, though the results were not as high because the performance cores were not operating at their full potential. Regardless, the Dimensity 9500 will have the upper hand against its nemesis because Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station has mentioned that MediaTek will be holding an announcement on September 22.

Even though the Dimensity 9500 unveiling will be just 24 hours before the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 takes center stage, that is still a massive head start because of the industry chatter that will ensue following the launch. There are glaring differences between the two SoCs, with a few similarities, the first one being that both silicon will leverage TSMC’s third-generation 3nm, or ‘N3P,’ process, enabling better performance and efficiency. It has been rumored that the Dimensity 9500 will ditch the ‘1 + 3 + 4’ CPU cluster belonging to the Dimensity 9400 and Dimensity 9400+ and switch to a ‘2 + 6’ configuration.

However, unlike the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, MediaTek is not too keen on gravitating to in-house cores for the Dimensity 9500, as the latter will stick with ARM’s CPU and GPU designs. The chipset’s performance cores have been rumored to be tested at 4.00GHz, and while the frequency is higher than that of the Dimensity 9400 and Dimensity 9400+, it is lower than the 4.74 GHz belonging to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2’s performance cores. A separate leak states that the Dimensity 9500 will stick with the same configuration as its immediate predecessor, with a 12-core Mali-G1 Ultra GPU as part of its specifications.

Coming to the changes, one of the biggest is support for ARM’s SME, or Scalable Matrix Extension, which aids in tackling more complex workloads more efficiently, leading to better benchmark scores. In short, the Dimensity 9500 could offer up to a 20 percent improvement in multi-threaded performance, with the single-threaded category also witnessing a spike. Next month will be packed with exciting announcements, and we will be present to provide our readers with all the juicy updates, so stay tuned.
