She’s having a baby. Or at least she’s holding one!
Actress and comedian Tiffany Haddish made waves today by posting a photo of herself holding a baby beside her friend, podcaster Jason Lee, who rested his right hand on the handlebar of a stroller.
“Cats out of the bag ❤️” the pair captioned the photo they jointly shared on Instagram, which caused confusion among their friends and fans. “What does this mean,” actress Tasha Smith bluntly asked in the comments, while comedian Susie Sitcom joked, “Congratulations! 🥳 I got two teenagers you can have!”
Reps for both Haddish and Lee did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly‘s request for comment.
It isn’t likely that Haddish carried the pictured infant to term, as the prolific poster hasn’t appeared pregnant in any of the pictures or videos she’s shared to her various social media accounts over the past nine months. Of course it’s possible Haddish and Lee, who is openly gay, adopted. And it’s also feasible that the pair are pulling a prank.
But past statements from both Haddish and Lee place the prospect of this post being a legitimate baby announcement firmly in the realm of possibility.
In January 2023, Lee, who hosts the Hollywood Unlocked podcast, told Angie Martinez that he and Haddish “keep talking about” the prospect of having a child together.
“She’s offered, and if she’s serious — she’s somebody that I love, we both were foster kids, I trust her — we’ve had the conversation of, ‘Do you want to be involved? Not involved?’… and now we have to talk about co-parenting,” he said.
By the end of that year, the pair were posing on Instagram in complementary Christmas outfits with Lee referring to Haddish in the caption as, “My friend, my ride or die, and my future baby mama.”

Haddish joined Lee on a November 2024 episode of Hollywood Unlocked for a discussion of potential baby plans. “You did promise me you would give me a kid. So let me ask you a question,” Lee asked her. “So I had Cardi B here, she’s already said she’ll be my kid’s godmother. You said you would give me a kid. Are you serious about that?”
Haddish simply responded, “Yeah,” delving into a conversation on “the cost” of co-parenting because she previously had indicated to Lee she “wanted to do it the old-fashioned way.”
The Girls Trip star had previously joked about adopting children that people “were trying to give me” on a 2022 Eritrea trip. In June, she sparked controversy after she claimed in an interview with the comedian Godfrey that women who have “more than two baby daddies usually have a mental illness” because of “stem cells” that “end up behind your eyes.” For that reason, she vowed to only “f— with Black men born outside of America.”
