Did Kim Kardashian Pass the California Bar Exam?

World Premiere Of Hulu’s “All’s Fair” - Arrivals

It looks like Kim Kardashian will have to wait a little longer to add esquire to the end of her name. On Saturday, the aspiring lawyer revealed that she did not pass the California bar exam after taking it in July. “Well … I’m not a lawyer yet, I just play a very well-dressed one on TV,” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “Six years into this law journey, and I’m still all in until I pass the bar. No shortcuts, no giving up – just more studying and even more determination.”

She continued: “Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me along the way so far. Failing short isn’t failure – it’s fuel. I was so close to passing the exam and that only motivated me even more. Let’s go!”

Kardashian’s legal journey began in 2018, when she started an apprenticeship with a law firm in San Francisco instead of enrolling in law school. This non-traditional route, also known as “reading the law,” qualifies you to take the bar in California and a few other states. It took her six years to graduate from the four-year program due to the pandemic and other work responsibilities, according to People.

In order for Kardashian to sit for the bar, she first had to pass the “baby bar,” which she did on her fourth try in 2021, and the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam, which she passed earlier this year. The next California bar exam is scheduled for February 24 and 25, so she’ll likely be spending the holiday season prepping for the test — hopefully without ChatGPT this time.
