Was Kelly Clarkson at a “celebration of life” ceremony for her late ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock?
The late talent manager was celebrated in Montana after his August 7 passing following a three-year battle with skin cancer. “Brandon’s closest friends and family gathered over the weekend for a few days to celebrate his life in the place he loved most. It was very private,” a source told Us Weekly.

“His partner, Brittney [Marie Jones], his family and his closest friends spent time at his home sharing memories of Brandon and remembering how much he meant to them.”
It is unclear if Clarkson or her and Blackstock’s two children, River Rose, 11, and Remington, 9, were present. Blackstock also shared Savannah, 23, and Seth, 18, with first wife Melissa Ashworth.
“It was sad and there were tears, but there were also a lot of laughs remembering Brandon’s pranks and sense of humor,” the source said. “It was special for everyone to spend time in Montana walking and hiking the roads Brandon loved so much, and to gather at his home to remember him.”
Per Us Weekly, some of Blackstock’s friends posted from the event, including Shane Tarleton who posted a faraway photo of people sitting around a firepit at night to his Instagram Story. “@brandonblackstock would’ve loved this night so much,” Tarleton wrote in text overlaying the image. “So many of his fav people in his backyard around a campfire at sunset.”
Another friend, Nashville hairstylist Amanda Craig, shared a photo of herself with her husband smiling with Montana hills hills in the background. “We understand why you loved it here so much,” Craig wrote. “Celebrating your wonderful life over the weekend was a true gift. We love you BB!”
Blackstock, who is originally from Texas, relocated from Nashville to Montana with Clarkson and their kids in 2020 before the American Idol alum filed for divorce in June of that year. Clarkson and Blackstock had been married since 2013.
After his divorce from Clarkson, Blackstock remained living at their Montana ranch before purchasing his own property later. Blackstock also began dating Jones, his assistant who once worked for Clarkson. Sources allege that while the relationship began while Jones was still married, Blackstock and Clarkson were “long over” before he moved on.
