UPDATE (12:00 p.m.): Authorities appear to be searching the wooded area behind Cherry Grove Apartments, along with the wooded area near Union University off of Pleasant Plains. Several agencies are present, including Tennessee Highway Patrol, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson Police Department, including SWAT.
JACKSON, Tenn. — Several WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News tipsters have alerted us to a heavy law enforcement presence in north Jackson.
Traffic was delayed late Monday morning in the area of Oil Well Road and Pleasant Plains as several law enforcement vehicles were in the area.
Shortly after 11 a.m., Jackson Police posted a traffic advisory stating: “Pleasant Plains Road is temporarily closed from Oil Well to Country Club Lane. Please take an alternate route.”
Tipsters have reported seeing helicopters circle the area, and shared that schools in the area including Jackson Christian School and Union University entered a lockdown.
We reached out to Jackson Police for more information, and we were directed to speak with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. TBI shared that the response is part of an ongoing investigation, and no further details were shared.
