It’s gameday yet again. And while the preseason never quite lives up to the real thing, any time there’s Detroit Lions football on the television, it is a good day.
This week, we get Friday night lights, as the Lions face off against the Atlanta Falcons in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Georgia. It’ll be their final road game in the preseason, as they come back home for both preseason games and some joint practices with the Miami Dolphins and Houston Texans starting next week.
But on Friday night, it’s all about looking better than last week. It was a rough go against the Los Angeles Chargers, but the Lions didn’t do themselves any favors with five turnovers. Just limiting those against the Falcons likely makes Detroit look a lot better. Eyes will be on third-year quarterback Hendon Hooker, who will start this week after backing up Kyle Allen in the Hall of Fame Game. Hooker couldn’t find any rhythm with his fellow third-string players, but he could see more success now bumped up to the second team.
There are plenty of other things to watch on Friday night, too. We may see Detroit’s first two draft picks (update: WE WILL!). Isaac TeSlaa is likely to get a lot of work after a promising debut last week. And there are plenty of positional battles still up for grabs.
So get settled, hang out here, and scroll down to the comment section after kickoff to share all of your own observations from the game, and chat with fellow Lions fans in our awesome community!
