What we’re learning about workers taken from CNY factory in ICE raid: Approximately 70 workers detained during an immigration raid at a protein bar plant in Cato have been transferred to a Texas border detention center. Elizabeth Ramirez-Abrams reported that her husband, 46-year-old Hediberto “Big Eddie” Ramirez-Perez, called briefly on Saturday to inform her of the transfer. According to advocates, many detainees had valid paperwork or pending immigration appeals that should have prevented their detention. Ramirez-Abrams and others and others said ICE agents separated the workers into two groups: Hispanic and non-Hispanic. The Hispanic group was herded into the break room. The non-Hispanic group was ordered to leave. The raid, conducted by ICE with assistance from local sheriff’s deputies, left at least a dozen children returning from their first day of school to find one or both parents missing.
Ex-Liverpool superintendent accuses board member of costing him job: Daniel Henner, who resigned as Liverpool schools superintendent last year with a $407,000 buyout, claims board member Jecenia Bresett made defamatory statements that cost him a job opportunity in the Malone Central School District. The lawsuit alleges Bresett violated their separation agreement by disparaging him to Malone officials, causing them to withdraw a job offer. Henner is seeking phone records and correspondence as evidence.

QB rallies Syracuse to comeback win in overtime: Steve Angeli overcame a brutal hit and a rough stretch to lead the Orange to a dramatic 27-20 win against UConn on Saturday. The quarterback threw for 417 yards — the ninth-most in school history — including the game-winning 6-yard TD pass to Justus Ross-Simmons in overtime. Syracuse didn’t lead until the final minute of regulation in what was expected to be one of the easier games on their challenging schedule.
Carmelo Anthony officially joins Hall of Fame: The Syracuse basketball legend delivered an emotional, powerful speech at his Basketball Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Springfield, Massachusetts, on Saturday. Anthony, who led Syracuse to its only national championship in 2003, spoke about perseverance, loyalty, and defying expectations. “I stand for the dreamers, the doubted, the dismissed,” he told the audience, addressing critics who diminished his legacy due to never winning an NBA championship. Anthony was inducted alongside Sue Bird, Dwight Howard, and other basketball luminaries, with former Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim in attendance.
