Dallas Goedert injury: Eagles tight end might miss Chiefs game

Death, taxes, and Dallas Goedert dealing with injury issues. The three certainties in life.

Here’s what ESP had to say on the WIP Afternoon Show with Spike Eskin, Ike Reese, and Jack Fritz:

“His status for the game on Sunday against the Chiefs is up in the air. […] The good news is it’s not a long-term injury. I think there’s still a shot he plays against Kansas City.”

Sounds like Goedert isn’t in jeopardy of being placed on injured reserve, which is indeed good news for the Eagles.

But Goedert either missing Sunday’s game against Kansas City or being hampered while playing just isn’t ideal.

If Goedert can’t suit up, the Eagles only have two tight ends on the roster behind him: Grant Calcaterra and Kylen Granson. Calcaterra has pass-catching talent but he’s been a liability as a blocker. Granson had to battle to earn a roster spot as the third tight end. The Eagles could look to temporarily elevate either E.J. Jenkins or Cameron Latu from the practice squad to have more TE depth.

Goedert’s progress in practice this week will certainly be worth monitoring. We’ll keep you updated with the daily injury reports here at Bleeding Green Nation.
