- She wore a sheer black lace Gucci dress with nothing below but black underwear.
- She completed the daring look with an updo, emerald earrings, and a smokey eye.
According to Dakota Johnson, the sheer trend is still going strong. In fact, the more see-through, the better. Attending the Kering Foundation’s Caring for Women dinner in New York City on September 11, the Materialists actress donned a naked dress to end all naked dresses.
Styled by Kate Young, the black sheer tulle gown by Gucci featured black Flora embellishments, along with a fall-ready turtleneck, long sleeves, and an elegant train. Below, she wore only the Top Stitch Convertible Bra and Luxe Cheeky Panty, both by Fleur du Mal. She paired the daring dress with black bamboo heel sandals and carried a Gucci Bamboo Night handbag in black.

Johnson completed the look with an autumnal deep red manicure and a black smokey eye look. She swept her hair into a chic updo, leaving her signature bangs hanging over her forehead. She accessorized with diamond and emerald hoop earrings by Jessica McCormack. Johnson is known to be a fan of emeralds having worn statement emerald pieces on numerous occasions in the past.

Though this may very well be Johnson’s sheerest look to date, the actress has a long-standing love affair with see-through fabrics on the red carpet. A brief recap of some of her see-through looks: Last February, she rocked a sheer dress fashioned like a sparkly spider’s web for the Madame Web premiere. That June, she wore a sheer blue dress with lace details, also by Gucci. That September, she slipped into another Gucci number, a slipdress with a sheer lace bodice. The same month, she paired a sheer white lace dress, Gucci again, with a bold black leather jacket. And this May, she rocked a slinky silver sparkly see-through gown in Cannes.
Evidently, she’s not nearly done with the trend yet.
