Costco’s controversial shopping policy takes effect

SEATTLE (CNN/CNN NEWSOURCE/WKRC) – Costco’s new shopping policy, which grants exclusive early access to executive members, will officially take effect on Monday. The policy, which had a trial run over the summer, allows executive members to enter the store from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. during the week, while other customers must wait until after 10 a.m. to shop.

The company said the policy was not strictly enforced during the trial period. However, Costco announced that the grace period is ending, and the policy will be fully implemented on Labor Day.

Some customers have expressed dissatisfaction with the change, arguing that the company is favoring its higher-paying members and alienating the rest.
