Costco Just Released a 5-Pound Version of the Vintage Grandma Dessert We All Love

If you haven’t been to Costco’s bakery section lately, you’re missing out. The bulk goods retailer is racing toward the holidays with a selection of new and returning goodies. By the end of August, members already spotted Costco’s beloved Pumpkin Pie on shelves.

This month, the retailer has been hard at work baking up even more fall-inspired desserts, including Caramel Apple Strudel Bites and an assorted dessert tray that will instantly make you the crowd favorite at any gathering.

Now, Costco shoppers are raving about a returning vintage holiday treat that looks like it came straight out of grandma’s kitchen.

Costco’s 5-Pound Tin of Danish Butter Cookies

Danish butter cookies are a holiday staple, but who says you have to wait until the snowy season arrives to enjoy them? Now, Costco members can dig into a 5-pound tin of Kelsen Danish Butter Cookies. According to the product description, the canister features “assorted shapes and sizes but [the] same wholesome flavor.”

Each tin contains 300 melt-in-your-mouth cookies, equivalent to approximately 75 servings of four butter cookies each. The enormous container sparked a lively discussion on social media, with many commenters thrilled to see the find back on shelves.

“My girlfriends & I could sit for hours with coffee & this tin of cookies & within no time, you would have plenty of space for sewing supplies,” a shopper joked.

“I can demolish this tin in like two days,” shared another. One person even called them their “favorite cookies in the world.”

Moreso than the cookies, however, fans were impressed with the massive blue tin itself. “It’s really all about the tin. The cookies are whatever,” said one Redditor.

The vintage-style tins sent commenters down memory lane, many recalling visits to their grandparents’ houses, only to find sewing supplies in the canister rather than the anticipated treat. “The saddest part of my childhood [was] when visiting grandma’s house to find no cookies inside,” one person wrote. Another joked, “Grandma, is that you?”

One more added, “Fond memories with these. I might just end up buying one to fill it with buttons and a sewing kit. If not for the useful storage capacity, then for the nostalgia alone.”

It’s not clear how long Costco’s bulk-sized Danish butter cookies will be available, but shoppers have already started stocking up, so be sure to get your fill before this nostalgic product disappears.
