For years, it was expected that Samsung would drop the Galaxy S Plus model to launch something new. After the company launched the Galaxy S25 Edge a few months ago, rumours about Samsung replacing the Galaxy S26+ with the Galaxy S26 Edge picked up pace. However, it now appears that the company has dropped such plans.
Galaxy S26+ will launch next year to continue Samsung’s tradition
We can now confirm through our own sources that Samsung has dropped the idea of replacing the Galaxy S26+ with the Galaxy S26 Edge. This lines up with the recent report from NewsPim that claimed a Samsung official has confirmed the cancellation of the Galaxy S26 Edge due to weak sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge.
Samsung started the development of four models (base, Plus, Edge, and Ultra) in the Galaxy S26 series. However, after looking at the poor sales numbers of the Galaxy S25 Edge, the South Korean firm has decided not to launch the Galaxy S26 Edge alongside the Galaxy S26 and the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The phone will be replaced by the Galaxy S26+.
It means the company will continue its years-long tradition to launch three high-end phones: Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The Galaxy S26 will use Samsung’s first 2nm chip, the Exynos 2600, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra will come equipped with a higher-clocked version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Currently, there is no credible information about Galaxy S26+’s processor.
There might still be a possibility of Samsung bringing back Edge branded ultra-slim phones in the future as a fourth model, but it is almost certain that the Galaxy S26 Edge won’t launch alongside the Galaxy S26 and the Galaxy S26 Ultra in early 2026.
