A few moments ago, we got our hands on the first firmware file for the Galaxy S26 Ultra. It revealed that the phone will run Android 16-based One UI 8.5 software. However, that was just the start. As we continue to explore the firmware, we are coming across a lot of exciting information. One such piece of information is related to the company’s next Galaxy S Ultra phone featuring Qualcomm’s next flagship chip.
As you can see in the image below, the firmware file for the Galaxy S26 Ultra mentions PMK8850. Considering that the model number of the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset is 8750, it is likely that the PMK8850 is the model number for its successor, and could be named the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2. So, the firmware confirms that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will use Qualcomm’s next flagship chipset.
It is still unclear if Samsung will exclusively use its in-house Exynos 2600 chip or the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 for the two other Galaxy S26 series phones. A recent report claimed that the South Korean firm will use a newer heat dissipation system in the Exynos 2600 for better heat management and performance.
Previous reports claim that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will have a 6.9-inch display with better colors and brightness, a 200MP primary camera with a wider aperture, a 50MP 5x zoom camera with a wider aperture, 12GB/16GB RAM, a 5,000mAh battery, and 60W fast wired charging.
