Week 5 of the 2025 college football season was loaded and we got a sense of which teams are the absolute cream of the crop.
The day started off with a bang as No. 23 Illinois topped No. 21 USC on a last-second field goal and No. 16 Georgia Tech needed OT to beat Wake Forest.

In the afternoon window, No. 1 Ohio State flexed on Washington, No. 9 Texas A&M held off a late rally by Auburn and Lane Kiffin made the gutsy call to go for it on fourth down late against No. 4 LSU to seal a win for No. 13 Ole Miss.
In the first marquee matchup of the night, No. 6 Oregon and No. 3 Penn State delivered an instant Big Ten classic (despite a rough first half). In the end, the Ducks survived a tough road atmosphere in Happy Valley for a double-overtime win. In the other showdown, No. 17 Alabama toppled No. 5 Georgia yet again in what’s become a lopsided rivalry for Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart.
