Week 10 of the 2025 college football season is in the books after several major upsets. That’s led to a shake up at the top of the sport, which is now being reflected with the release of the latest Coaches Poll Top 25.
The Coaches Poll is a Top 25 poll that is updated weekly throughout the season. It gets its name from who is voting on those rankings, a group of FBS coaches. It’s a group drawn at random, designed for as equal a representation by conference as possible and from those coaches who are willing to do so, according to what they’ve indicated to the American Football Coaches Association.
Keeping all of that in mind, the Coaches Poll is now up, with a new look at the top. You can check those rankings out, here:
The Ohio State Buckeyes got a slight scare in the first half against Penn State, before settling down in the second half. In the end, the Buckeyes would pull away. So, it’s no surprise they’re still ranked so highly in the Coaches Poll.
Ohio State has just four games left before, presumably, the Big Ten Championship Game and the College Football Playoff. Before that, though, they’ll need to stay focused and avoid any upset bids.

The Indiana Hoosiers remained perfect for the season. With that, they’ve also remained incredibly highly ranked in the Coaches Poll. This instance comes following a win over Maryland that was never all that close.
Next week, Indiana turns its attention to Penn State. The Nittany Lions still have plenty of talent but with their current situation, it’s hard to say how focused they are. Indiana needs to be focused, though, as they battle for the Big Ten Championship race.
The Texas A&M Aggies had a bye week in Week 10. That let them reset following an emotional win the week before against LSU. Importantly, it also didn’t coat them in the Coaches Poll Top 25 rankings.
With four games left in the season, the Aggies are just one of two teams left in SEC play without a loss. That means they control their own destiny to the SEC Championship Game. It’s not an easy schedule ahead, though, starting with Missouri next week.
After getting a scare in Week 9, Alabama had a bye week in Week 10. That was time used to prepare for an interesting next home game. An LSU Tigers team with an interim coach will be coming to Tuscaloosa in Week 11.
Despite coming off a bye, Alabama is still ranked highly in the Coaches Poll. More importantly, they’re still unbeaten in SEC play and, therefore, are in a good spot to make it back to the SEC Championship Game.

The Georgia Bulldogs were in Jacksonville for a rendezvous with rival Florida. There, the Bulldogs got all they could handle and more, before ultimately winning a close game. That win was a credit to the defense, consistently getting off the field on third and fourth downs.
Going forward, Georgia needs some help to win the SEC. After all, with a loss to Alabama and no game against Texas A&M, the Bulldogs are on the outside looking in. At the same time, the Coaches Poll shows how well respected this team is.
Oregon had the week off, looking to reset after star quarterback Dante Moore got banged up in Week 9. Regardless, the Ducks are still thought of as one of the best teams in the sport and find themselves in the Top 10 of the Coaches Poll.
The Ducks have four more Big Ten games to wrap up the season. That starts with a tough road trip to Iowa next week. Oregon will need to be close to perfect for that run, though, if they want to have a shot to get back to the Big Ten Championship Game.
Ole Miss has more than bounced back from its loss to Georgia. Now with two wins in a row since then, including Saturday’s big win over South Carolina, the Rebels are back climbing in the Coaches Poll.
The challenge for Ole Miss is going to be that the SEC Championship Game is a long shot. Not playing Alabama or Texas A&M hurts their chance to win a tiebreaker. Having lost to Georgia makes for another challenge. So, they’ll need some help and a strong resume.
8. BYU (+2)

The BYU Cougars were off in Week 10. Despite that, they’re still in the Top 10 of the Coaches Poll. This comes after knocking off Iowa State the week before.
BYU looks to be in a good spot for the Big 12 Championship Game, as the only unbeaten team in conference play. At the same time, nobody in the conference wraps up with a tougher schedule than the Cougars.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders took care of business against Kansas State. In particular, a dominant second half helped them to pull away in a major way. So, their Coaches Poll ranking is earned.
Texas Tech is currently second in the Big 12 standings. There, they’re battling for a shot at the conference championship game, making next week’s game against BYU absolutely vital.
Notre Dame got off to a little bit of a slow start against Boston College, before flexing its muscles. It would be an Irish win where the major concern leaving the game is on special teams. That’s something that needs to be addressed before the postseason.
The Irish know their ranking and where their opponents are ranked is vital. After all, without a conference championship, they’ll need to make the CFP as an at-large. So, they’ll be happy to see this Coaches Poll ranking.
