Chelsea O’Donnell removed from drug court program, may face prison over probation issues

MARINETTE (WLUK) – Chelsea O’Donnell, daughter of comedian Rosie O’Donnell, was terminated from a drug treatment court program, court records show.

O’Donnell, 28, was convicted of drug possession and obstruction in Marinette County. In March, she was placed on probation and was admitted to a drug treatment court program. Besides probation, a one-year prison sentence was imposed but stayed, which meant she wasn’t sent to prison, but could be at a later date, if warranted.

Court records show a series of violations, which resulted in community service, an order to write letter of apology and an essay, and other sanctions. The state eventually moved to end her involvement in the drug court.

A court order entered last week listed a ‘change in status’ to “Revoked – Sentenced to Prison (State Probation).”

However, as of Wednesday, DOC records do not list O’Donnell as being in custody. Rather, her status is listed as “active community supervision” with a Marinette address.

FOX 11 has requested a clarification on her status from the Dept. of Corrections.

The court action prompted Rosie O’Donnell to post on Instagram: “My child chelsea belle – before addiction took over her life – i loved her then i love her now as she faces a scary future- prayers welcomed- #addiction awareness #love #family”

In a statement to People Magazine, she said: “I have compassion for those struggling with addiction – Chelsea was born into addiction and it has been a painful journey for her and her four young children. We continue to love and support her through these horrible times. Prayers welcomed.”
