Moisés Caicedo’s fitness appears to be trending in the right direction as we approach gametime in the Club World Cup final, so chances are he’s going to play and perhaps even start as we attempt to pull off an unlikely upset of PSG.
For the WAGNH Community, there certainly isn’t much doubt that Caicedo needs to play if he can. And for the Community it’s also not even a question of whether it’s Caicedo or Andrey Santos as both midfielders get enough votes to get into the starting lineup, at the expense of Liam Delap (51%).
With Delap sitting, it’s semifinal hero João Pedro who starts up top, with Cole Palmer, Pedro Neto, and Enzo Fernández supporting. Overloading the midfield may not be the worst idea against the Champions of Europe.
I had accidentally forgot to include Levi Colwill on the voting form: he got a noticeably high number of write-in votes, so I’ve made the executive decision to give him the start. Trevoh Chalobah beats out Tosin Adarabioyo by a handful of percentage points for the other center back spot.
4-2-3-1 (62%)
Sánchez (90%) | Cucurella (99%+), Colwill, Chalobah (89%), James (94%) | Santos (58%), Caicedo (59%) | Neto (95%), Enzo (99%), Palmer (99%+) | João Pedro (94%)
Other than Delap, the only other players to get into double-digits were Nicolas Jackson (17%), Christopher Nkunku (16%), and Malo Gusto (14%)
