EXCLUSIVE: Kylie Jenner, Rachel Sennott, and Kate Berlant are among the buzzy names Aidan Zamiri and Charli xcx have locked in for the cast of their A24-backed feature The Moment. Check out the film’s first teaser below.
Written by Zamiri and Bertie Brandes, the film is based on an original idea by Charli xcx. The “Brat” singer-songwriter also stars in the film, which follows a rising pop star as she navigates the complexities of fame and industry pressure while preparing for her arena-tour debut.
The film’s wider cast features Alexander Skarsgård, Rosanna Arquette, Jamie Demetriou, Arielle Dombasle, Hailey Benton Gates, Trew Mullen, Mel Ottenberg, Richard Perez, Isaac Powell, Rish Shah, Tish Weinstock, Michael Workéyè, Shygirl and A.G. Cook. We first reported that Skarsgård, Arquette and Mullen were circling the project back in March.
Cook, a longtime music collaborator of Charli xcx, will provide original music for the feature.
Charli xcx is also producing The Moment under her Studio365 label alongside David Hinojosa of 2 AM. Exec producers are Brandon Creed, Mikey Schwartz-Wright and Zach Nutman. The film will be released in theaters next year.
Charli xcx is currently in the midst of a sharp pivot into the filmmaking world. This year, the British artist has locked on-screen roles in several features including Pete Ohs‘ Erupcja, which debuted at TIFF, and Julia Jackman’s 100 Nights of Hero, which debuted at Venice and closes the London Film Festival next week.
