The 19th-ranked BYU Cougars soccer team grabbed a massive upset victory Saturday night at home, beating the 4th-ranked UCLA Bruins 1-0.
Ellie Walbruch connected on a penalty kick in the 14th minute, and the Cougar defense staved off a potent Bruins attack the rest of the way as BYU moved to 2-0-1 on the young season.
UCLA goalkeeper Daphne Nakfoor guessed correctly on Walbruch’s strike in diving left, but the shot went past her.
