Bullet Point Reactions to Miami 27, Notre Dame 24

Some not-too-disorganized reactions to Notre Dame’s 27-24 loss to Miami:

But even with all that, this was a tie game that came down to was the leg of a kicker who entered the game 4-11 for his career on field goals. To some extent, you shake his hand for drilling a 47-yard go-ahead field goal with all the pressure on him. Would a defense led by ingrained-DC Al Golden and with Howard Cross III, Riley Mills, Jack Kiser and Xavier Watts have kept Miami from even getting into field goal range in that situation? I would have liked their odds better than this defense’s in game one under Ash, but it’s not quite enough for me to call it a choke job.

Ultimately, this was a missed opportunity. It would have felt like Notre Dame stole the game after how poorly they played in the first half, which is a problem, but they got a solid showing from Carr when a lot of programs’ first-time starting quarterbacks played poorly this weekend. Hopefully it gives everyone in the Gug a pissed-off edge heading into an early bye week before what’s now a must-win game hosting Texas A&M.
