The family of a 10-year-old boy injured during the Annunciation Church shooting is raising money after doctors found a bullet fragment in his neck.
According to a GoFundMe, a bullet fragment was found dangerously close to 10-year-old Weston’s carotid artery.
Weston now needs surgery to remove the fragment, the fundraiser added.

Weston was sitting in a pew right next to the stained glass windows where the gunfire erupted. He avoided injury, but previously told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS he thought he got gunpowder on his neck.
Weston’s friend, who was sitting next to him, was less fortunate and was shot in the back.
“If you’ve met my nephew, Weston, you know his love of basketball, being with friends, and enjoying a candy or two. You’ve been amazed by his quick wit, awed by his persistence, and charmed by his earnestness. If you’ve been watching the news, you’ve seen his grief-stricken face and heard, despite his shock, Weston’s account of the horrific details during the mass at Annunciation Church. And in spite of everything, this 10-year-old boy was able to express appreciation for his friends and pray for their recovery,” the fundraiser said.

As of Sunday evening, Hennepin Healthcare was still caring for four patients, including three children, two of whom were in “satisfactory condition.” The other child victim remains in critical condition.
Hennepin Healthcare is continuing to treat an adult victim, who is in “satisfactory condition.” Additionally, the remaining patient at North Memorial has been released.
